Profiles of Contemporary Art at ViVO Contemporary

Upon entering, visitors will encounter Norma Alonzo’s vibrant abstractions. Alonzo’s intuitive rhythm and intense hues challenge viewers to discover personal meaning within her swirling forms. 

Next to Alonzo’s work, Ilse Bolle presents fiber constructions that blend craft and fine art. Her meticulously crafted non-objective forms use woven and sculpted fibers to engage viewers visually and tactilely. Bolle’s pieces invite reflection on materiality and memory, elevating fiber arts within the contemporary fine art dialogue and adding depth to the exhibition.  

Barrie Brown’s kiln glass landscapes capture New Mexico’s natural beauty with luminous sensitivity. Her mastery of glass techniques creates ethereal works that shimmer with light and color, evoking the landscape’s shifting moods from dawn to twilight. The fragile medium contrasts with themes of transience and permanence found in the enduring natural world she celebrates. 

Mixed media artist Nina Glaser offers haunting layered images that combine fractured glass with photography. Her complex compositions invite contemplation of identity, fragmented memories, and time’s passage. By integrating glass, Glaser disrupts traditional representation and encourages nuanced reflections on perception and reality.  

Warren Keating’s contemporary figurative paintings provide fresh perspectives through aerial viewpoints. His compositions merge human forms with environmental elements, blurring the line between figure and landscape. Keating redefines portraiture by situating subjects within broader contexts, highlighting interconnectedness and prompting contemplation of human experience.  

Tracy King contributes expressive abstract paintings marked by bold brushstrokes and emotional intensity. Ann Laser’s mixed media pieces layer storytelling through texture and color. Combining paint, collage, and found objects, her rich compositions evoke memories, history, and personal mythologies. Laser’s work encourages viewers to engage deeply, revealing new visual and emotional insights upon close inspection.  

Laurinda Stockwell’s abstract landscape paintings invite the viewer to enter a vibrant field of color and pattern based upon her observations while hiking the Santa Fe National Forest. Her lush canvases that depict trees as subject matter, symbolizing strength, resilience and time. 

Rounding out the exhibition are Gary Oakley’s abstract landscape oil paintings. His works capture vast natural expanses with atmospheric sensitivity, balancing abstraction and representation. Oakley’s sweeping brushstrokes and nuanced color harmonies celebrate the landscape’s grandeur and intimacy, inviting reflection on environmental beauty and fragility.  

To enhance the experience, ViVO Contemporary will publish a printed catalog featuring in-depth artist profiles, insights into their creative processes, and explorations of their inspirations. A limited number of these catalogs will be available at the opening reception, serving as collectible mementos for collectors and visitors wishing to engage deeper with the show’s themes.
